I have worked in the UK plumbing and bathroom business for 38 years, writes Eric Law, of Visual Bathrooms. My first job – as a 16-year-old who had recently left Earlfield School in Gleadless – was working as a plumber for Peter Smith & Sons. I pride my self in providing Quality Bathroom from brands all around the UK.

At the age of 21, I went to work in the plumbing department of Building Supplies, on Holme Lane in Hillsborough. Years later, in 1998, the company opened a bathroom centre – Loxley Bathrooms – and I was in charge of the showroom and overseeing all designs and installations for customers. The first bathroom I planned was at a property in Crosspool, featuring a Villeroy & Boch bath, and Solaya suite.

Three years ago, I set up my own business – Visual Bathrooms – where I offer customers the benefits of my many years of plumbing and design experience.

Bathrooms have changed a lot since I started working on them in 1977. Wetrooms are now very popular, and I have a good selection in my showroom. They are great if you are not as agile as you once were – very easy to move in and out of.
